SOVEREIGN SHAKESPEARE - 140.34cm (13.3 1/4hh)
Palomino Stallion (ASPA, APHA, ASPR)
Sovereign Shakespeare is the principle stallion of Sovereign Acres, located in north west Melbourne, Victoria. Registered Palomino and Australian Saddle Pony, he boasts substance and power suitable for the Pony Dressage arena. He has recently been assessed by Mr Gerd Küst from Germany for the Australian Sports Pony Registry and has been accepted for registration with a 1st Premium Grading.
Standing at just under 14hh, he is up to height in the large pony show ring and has scope to produce quality performance ponies to mature under 14.2hh when put over larger mares. His iridescent gold coat and silver white mane and tail make him a stand out in any field. With an impeccable temperament and exceptionally quiet nature, he is an absolute pleasure to handle and ride in every way.
Shakespeare commenced his successful show career in hand during the 2012/13 season in Victoria winning Champion Palomino Stallion at his first outing. He continued to impress judges throughout the limited season concluding with 2012/13 APHA Led Stallion of the Year. At the APHA Annual Awards Night he was also presented with his Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards which he attained in a single year.
After an impressive first full show season in 2013/14, he continued to take the show ring by storm achieving multiple Supreme and Champion awards in the Palomino, Australian Saddle Pony and Open rings against some impressive competition. Most notably outside the Palomino ring, he was recently awarded Champion All Breeds at Whittlesea Show against 10 wining horses from Shetland to Clydesdale and Reserve Champion Open Led pony at Echuca from a strong field of predominantly Welsh/Riding Pony hacks.
Improving on his performance in the Palomino ring from his first year, the season was concluded with a very successful APHA National Show (results below). The Annual Awards Night also saw Shakespeare achieve his DIAMOND AWARD .
Having started competing under saddle earlier in 2014 and wining his first ridden palomino stallion classes, the off season saw him enter the dressage arena for the first time with some pleasing results.
Showing for the remainder of the 2014/15 season was limited to focus on the breeding season. With his first filly now a young yearling and this season's foals on their way, Shakespeare is having a holiday with a professional trainer to be brought back into work ready to recommence his dressage career.
